Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Dies in a California Car Crash

The visionary game developer, the mind behind the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The renowned industry figure died after his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in Los Angeles on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with Vince's family, those closest to him, and all those touched by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
