Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. The project has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Launch products will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and various deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the nation into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the city into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players come in.

Work on the game has been underway for approximately three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader market, particularly in the United States. Production will start immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

A preview at the game's rules reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic style. Agents use abilities to assemble small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This dice is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Thematic Health System

The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They can still move and take limited actions, emulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players lead the search for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed closer to the Kickstarter start date.
