The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating chaos and madness with equal excitement, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two producers whose projects have represented all of those things.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a fresh backdrop and ensemble in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant belief and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the nature of people through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious approach to the screen.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
