The President Invites Loved Ones of Shot Military Members to the White House

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with the family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” the governor informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
