The former president's Granddaughter Seeks Professional Tips from Golf Legend Woods Ahead of LPGA Debut
This young athlete boasts considerable online audience
Kai Trump will have plenty of well-known cheerleaders as she begins her professional golf debut later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to a former US president, obtained a tournament invitation to play at Florida's Annika event in Florida.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, possesses several golf courses and frequently plays against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I can't say much but we have some close matches," she stated.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who won't be present, counseled her: "Just stay calm."
"My grandpa essentially advised me to compete and relax," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's just a regular grandfather. He's not attending for the tournament. He's occupied with presidential duties, so he's quite busy."
While still amateur, the golfer has played in just three tournaments recently and holds ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
But she can receive tips from golf legend, romantically involved with her mother.
"He represents the best player in the world," Kai stated.
"And he's a more impressive human being. He suggested me to go out there, have fun, adapting to the flow."
Kai will face multiple the biggest names in the sport at the competition, including world number two Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner champion Vu.
Officials mentioned that Kai's presence brings golf to new audiences, specifically among younger fans.
Kai maintains substantial online presence and just introduced her own fashion and living brand.
Her first tee time at 5:30 PM GMT.
