“Existing federation regulations permit National Federations to withdraw athletes from an event at any time,” stated the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).

Reacting to the claims, Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton stood by the withdrawals, citing competitor health and the need for recovery. They asserted that the individuals pulled had competed extensively that week and the move was “correct, clear and aligned with both their well-being and the sport's fairness.”
Representatives of the US, Denmark, Israel, and Malta had voiced “serious concerns” about the qualification process.
