Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, however will the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four games.

A family member advised me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
