More than 100 million people, comprising at least 15 million youth, currently employ e-cigarettes, fueling a new wave of nicotine habit, as stated by current global health findings.

Electronic cigarettes are propelling a "recent wave" of nicotine addiction, stated a leading health representative. "They are marketed as damage limitation but, truthfully, are addicting kids on nicotine earlier and risk undermining decades of progress."

"Countless of people are stopping, or avoiding tobacco use due to tobacco restriction efforts by states across the globe," the official commented.
"As an answer to this strong progress, the tobacco business is resisting with recent nicotine items, aggressively aiming at young people. Governments must respond faster and stronger in enacting established tobacco-control policies," the representative continued.
The e-cigarette figures are an estimate since several states - 109 in total, and several in Africa and South-East Asia - fail to collect data.
According to the report, as of recent February this year, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette users were grown-ups, mainly in wealthy countries.
And at minimum 15 million teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 currently engage in vaping, per research from 123 states.
Even though numerous states have attempted to implement e-cigarette rules to combat child vaping in recent years, by the end of 2024, 62 nations yet had no measure in operation, and 74 countries had no age limit at which e-cigarettes may be purchased, says the public health organization.
Meanwhile, tobacco consumption has been declining - from an estimated 1.38 billion individuals in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Prevalence of tobacco consumption among women fell the largest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
For men, the reduction was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But a fifth of grown-ups globally yet consumes tobacco.
