Barcelona Ready for First Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. Once fully finished, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht on 9 December at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
