Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
